direkte boqueria
A creative fine dining experience featuring an affordable prefix menu. Serving Spanish food with a Japanese influence.
J: Romantic date spot with amazing seafood tapas. Make sure to make a reservation at least 1 week ahead.
P: Top three meals of my life served in an unassuming corner of the market. Excellent service and incredible wine pairing recommendations!
Garage Bar
Tapas bar with classic and natural wines set in a moody, industrial space.
J: Make sure to check out the interesting bottles for purchase in the back.
P: Perfect place to stop for a few glasses of wine and a bite to eat. Huge selection of wines.
Casette Bar
Fun neighborhood bar with small bites and an extensive gin & tonic selection.
J: Get the fried squid sandwich and an orange & clover gin and tonic!
P: The fried squid on toasted ciabatta is sooo crispy and delicious I practically inhaled it. Hard to go wrong here with drinks, but I'd pair it with a draft Mahou.
Denassus
Perfect for delicious small bites and wines. Lively with many locals!
J: Try their daily seafood specials. Sit outside and enjoy a glass of wine.
P: Every dish on their menu punches above their weight for an unassuming bistro. Excellent seafood and Jamon Iberico.
Nomad Coffee - Lab & Shop
Are you a coffee lover/snob? Then you should definitely try a pour over at Nomad coffee!
J: Ask for an iced pour over if you’re feeling hot!
P: Their selection of beans is seriously delicious so be sure to leave extra room in your suitcase. The flavor profiles are expressive and delicate without being pretentious. Do not skip!
Bar del Pla
Cozy, no frills tapas bar. Less touristy and more delicious than the tapas spots serving dishes from under a heat lamp.
J: Best place to be adventurous and try different kinds of seafoods! I was skeptical about ordering fried *whole* fried shrimp, but it was so good, so I would highly recommend it.
P: Do not skip the fried whole shrimp, local mushrooms, and if you're feeling adventurous, the oxtail and foie gras. Pairs perfect with any of the wines or beers on draft.
Norte
A neighborhood staple serving Basque and Galician classics made with fresh, local ingredients. Keep an eye out for their daily specials!
P: This is my perfect outdoor Barcelona dining experience: fresh, local dishes at a reasonable price.
Bar Brutal
A counter-culture natural wine bar serving fresh seafood and creative dishes. Reservations recommended!
P: This is one of the bars that got me into natural wine! I saw a youtube video that featured this restaurant and I knew I wanted to visit someday. Thankfully, it has exceeded my expectations and was as close to a "perfect meal" as I could hope to find in Barcelona. Definitely share a bottle!
Casa Luz
Get off the plane and come here. This is the perfect first and last stop on your visit to Barcelona - incredible rooftop views that can be enjoyed day or night, paired with a creative yet approachable menu. They also have an incredible wine list.
P: I really love this place. It's great for large groups and you can't miss with the menu. This was a meal that I couldn't stop smiling throughout - everything was just perfect. My recs: squid, basque cheesecake, brut nature.
